MORSE KEYBOARD - F4
This selection will initiate an interactive screen for the purpose
of learning Morse receive on a Keyboard. The top half of the screen
represents a standard QWERTY keyboard, while the bottom half is an area for
textual input. You should have a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of
Touch Typing before commencing. At the completion of all 50 lessons you
should be able to transcribe morse on a keyboard to 5 words per minute.
Morse Lesson Format - Introduction.
Lessons which introduce morse symbols include an introduction to
those symbols before the lesson commences. The introduction consists of
the sounding of a morse symbol followed by a display of its position on the
keyboard. Symbols which consist of more than one keystroke will be displayed
key by key (in the required order). This phase of the lesson does not
contribute to the final accuracy result. At the completion of the
introduction, the morse lesson will begin.
The introduction procedure:
1. LISTEN TO THE MORSE SYMBOL
2. WAIT FOR THE KEY(S) TO BE DISPLAYED
3. PRACTICE TYPING THE REQUIRED KEY(S)
Morse Lesson Format.
Normal lesson format involves the sounding of a morse character
followed by a period of time, in which the correct key must be typed. If
the wrong key(s) is typed or if there is no response then an ERROR SIGNAL
will be generated, after which the correct key(s) to type will be displayed.
This format will continue until the correct key(s) is typed. At the
completion of the lesson the overall accuracy will be displayed as a
percentage, and this result will be recorded.
The morse lesson procedure:
1. LISTEN FOR THE MORSE SYMBOL
2. TYPE THE REQUIRED KEYSTROKE(S)
3. IF THE ERROR SIGNAL SOUNDS -
A. OBSERVE THE CORRECT KEYSTROKE(S)
B. LISTEN FOR THE MORSE SYMBOL
C. TYPE THE REQUIRED KEYSTROKE(S)
There is a minimum lesson accuracy which must be met before the
next lesson may be attempted.
